BHUBANESWAR: Slum dwellers of Nilamadhab Basti in Chandrasekharpur have a new address now with chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurating the much-awaited Nilamadhab Niwas, an affordable housing project for them executed under the “Housing for All” policy.
The housing project has a total of 1,200 dwelling units out of which 960 units have been handed over to the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). The CM handed over the keys to 455 beneficiaries who have been allotted houses in the project. “I feel very happy to hand over the keys to their dream houses,” he said.
The dwelling units in the housing projects have a total carpet area of 250 square feet with provision of one hall, one bedroom, one toilet and one kitchenette. The beneficiaries will pay their share of Rs 1.5 lakh for each dwelling unit. The project has convenient access to a range of amenities such as educational institutions, healthcare services and commercial establishments, which will improve the residents’ quality of life, officials said.
