KANPUR: As many as 864 beneficiaries of Aasara Awas Yojna on Tuesday got allotment letters for homes under the Sajari scheme, through a lottery held at Shatabdi Hall of HBTU campus.
Though the awas scheme comprises 1,104 flats, 864 are complete and allotted to beneficiaries through lottery. The department had received 18,514 applications from aspirants and 4,852 of them were found eligible. Remaining 240 flats are under construction and would be allotted later through lottery.
Mayor Pramila Pandey, legislative assembly speaker Satish Mahana and Neelima Katiyar opened the lottery process by lighting the inaugural lamp. In the second phase, lottery process was conducted before MPs Devendra Singh Bhole and Satyadeo Pachauri. Guests drew lots and announced names of 21 beneficiaries in the first phase and of 10 in the second phase. tnn
