AHMEDABAD: Every year around March 1, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation announces an interest waiver scheme on outstanding property tax amounts.

However, this time, the corporation has still not announced the scheme, leading to uncertainty about whether it will be introduced. The chairman of the standing committee, Devang Dani, has not clarified whether the interest waiver scheme will be announced.

On Thursday, the property tax department of the corporation’s South West Zone sealed 477 properties of defaulters in various areas of the city.

Properties of defaulters were sealed at locations such as West Gate Business Hub and Inceptum Building at Makarba Crossroads, Palladium building on Corporate Road, Suvidha Estate in Sarkhej and Zuber Estate in Fatehwadi. A recovery of Rs 41 lakh was made in a single day.

Additionally, the estate TDO department of the South Zone demolished illegal shed-type constructions at Gurukrupa Estate on the Narol Aslali Highway on Thursday.
