Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna have sold a luxury apartment in a super-premium residential tower in Mumbai’s plush Worli locality for Rs 80 crore.

The apartment spread over a carpet area of 6,830 sq ft on the 39th floor in one of the towers of Three Sixty West’s on Dr. Annie Besant Road. The buyer will also get exclusive access to four car parking slots in the tower.

The deal registered on January 31 has attracted stamp duty of Rs 4.80 crore, showed the registration documents accessed through IndexTap.com.

This apartment was initially purchased by Akshay Kumar for Rs 27.95 crore in August 2015 and then had transferred to his wife for Rs 32 crore in Sep 2015.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna could not be reached immediately for a comment.

Three Sixty West is a mixed-use development comprising two towers, one of which houses The Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the other will have luxury residences managed by The Ritz-Carlton.

The recent high-value property sale transactions by high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), including Bollywood celebrities, can be broadly attributed to either price appreciation over the last 2-3 years, or plan to offset long-term capital gains from realty against stock market losses–known as tax harvesting–or even combination of these.

Real estate continues to be a top investment choice for high net-worth individuals. Bollywood celebrities and sports personalities have been actively acquiring properties, recognizing the value of these assets not just for personal use but also as an attractive investment opportunity that can contribute to their growing wealth portfolios.
