AHMEDABAD: On the third day of auctions to sell eight plots, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sold two of its plots for Rs 109.65 crore on Wednesday.
During this three-day auction, the civic body sold five out of eight plots, garnering Rs 298.65 crore.
On Wednesday, the civic body sold a commercial plot in Makarba Town Planning Scheme 26, measuring 6,657 sq metres for 1.51 lakh per sq metre against a base price of Rs 1.5 lakh. The civic body got Rs 100.52 crore for it. Another commercial plot in Saijpur Bogha Town Planning Scheme 48, measuring 677 sq metres, sold for Rs 1.35 lakh per sq meter price against the base price of Rs 50,000, fetching Rs 9.13 crore.
Earlier in the e-auction that began on Jan 29, bidders battled it out for plots in Vatva and Makarba, which fetched a total of Rs 41.11 crore.
The Makarba plot, a 3,799 sq m residential parcel, saw bidding go from a base rate of Rs 35,000 per sq m to Rs 82,000, a premium of Rs 32,000. Similarly, a 2,623 sq m commercial plot in Vatva fetched Rs 38,000 per sq m, which was Rs 3,000 above the base rate.
The showstopper was in Bodakdev, where AMC’s priciest plot changed hands. The coveted plot opposite Rajpath Club bagged Rs 3.20 lakh per sq m, translating into Rs 148 crore for the AMC. This surpasses the previous record set in May 2021, when another Bodakdev plot had fetched Rs 77.04 crore.
Two plots in Bodakdev and one in Thaltej failed to attract any bids. Notably, these successful auctions come after a failed attempt in February 2023, when seven plots were put up for sale but remained unsold, forcing the AMC to revamp its strategy.
