AHMEDABAD: AMC‘s south west zone teams demolished illegal constructions in the new Fatehwadi area of Sarkhej ward on Tuesday. In all, 23 illegal structures — 22 residential buildings and one commercial structure — were razed.
Notices were issued by the AMC to demolish 51 illegal units — 32 residential buildings and 18 commercial units — spread across four survey numbers in Fatehwadi.
According to a press release issued by the AMC, the individuals responsible for the illegal constructions filed a petition in the Gujarat high court on Sep 11.
The release mentioned that the high court initially granted a status quo but later ordered the petitioners on Sep 13 to voluntarily remove the illegal constructions by Sep 15. Since the petitioners did not comply, the civic body proceeded with the demolition, starting with 23 structures on Tuesday, the release said. The demolition work will continue on Wednesday, said a source.
