AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) East Zone officials sealed 333 properties belonging to tax defaulters. The civic body collected Rs 43.25 lakh of overdue property taxes after issuing notices to defaulters.
Some defaulters provided advance cheques totalling Rs 45 lakh to prevent their properties from being sealed.
The property tax department of AMC East Zone implemented stricter measures by placing liens in revenue records for defaulters who remained non-compliant despite multiple notices.
In the East Zone, liens were recorded against 176 property tax defaulters.
Over the past two days, officials placed liens in revenue records of 16 properties, while proceedings continue for 84 additional properties.
Meanwhile, the solid waste management department of AMC took action in the West Zone on Friday, sealing two units for violating public littering rules.
