KOCHI: As part of preparing a report on how much construction can be permitted at the site where four flat complexes in Maradu were demolished, amicus curiae Gaurav Agarwal visited the location on Monday.
The Supreme Court bench led by Justice B R Gavai instructed Agarwal to visit Maradu and prepare the report. Sub-collector K Meera, Maradu municipality chairman Antony Ashamparambil, vice-chairperson Rashmi Sanil, and others accompanied the team.
The flats were demolished after they were found to have violated CRZ rules.
Meanwhile, Ashamparambil said no new investors are coming to Maradu after the demolition.
He demanded that govt take necessary steps to construct flats for these 343 families due to the failures by both govt and the previous panchayat.
“Only then will the concerns of investors be alleviated, encouraging more investments in Maradu. Additionally, although officials who approved illegal constructions have been included in the case, govt is protecting former panchayat president K A Devasia without even questioning him. Crime branch approached govt three times seeking permission to question Devasia, but it was not granted. Despite eight members of the then panchayat committee testifying against Devasia before the magistrate, no action has been taken, he added.
