Andhra Pradesh government approves revised mobility plans in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, ET RealEstate

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh govt has granted approval to the AP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (APMRCL) to issue a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to SYSTRA MVA Consulting Ltd for the preparation of revised Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMPs) for Vijayawada city and its surrounding Capital City areas, as well as Visakhapatnam city in the VMRDA area. Principal secretary of municipal administration and urban development, S Suresh Kumar, issued GO (No. 215 and 216) for this purpose on Monday.

GO 215 authorises the consultant agency to prepare the revised CMP for Vijayawada Metro at a cost of 81.67 lakh, inclusive of 18% GST. Similarly, GO 216 grants permission to prepare the revised CMP for Visakhapatnam Metro at a cost of 84.47 lakh, inclusive of 18% GST.

The Centre has agreed to bear the costs for these revised CMPs and communicated this decision to APMRCL last week.

The state govt has already approved the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for Phase 1 construction of the Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam metros and forwarded them to the Centre.

In response, the Centre directed the state to prepare updated CMPs for both cities, replacing the ones prepared five years ago in 2019.
