The Bangalore Apartments Federation (BAF) and the Real Estate Research Initiative (RERI) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness, knowledge, and education among prospective homebuyers, current homeowners, and residential communities in Bengaluru.

This partnership aims to benefit nearly 1,300 apartment and villa resident welfare associations (RWAs), representing almost 300,000 households and approximately one and a half million citizens.

BAF represents Bengaluru’s homeowners and residents, while RERI-IIMB conducts interdisciplinary research to drive impactful changes in the city’s real estate landscape. Key collaboration areas include research and knowledge generation, with BAF and RERI-IIMB developing white papers, publications, articles, and thought-leadership content on topics affecting homebuyers, homeowners, and the real estate industry. This research aims to shape government policies and regulations. These initiatives will promote best practices in resource management (water and energy), waste management, safety, security, health, sports, and cultural integration, enhancing city vibrancy.

Vikram Rai, President of BAF, said, “BAF has been growing as a community platform for the residents of apartment communities across Bengaluru. We are extremely delighted to collaborate with RERI-IIMB. This collaboration will bring tremendous value to the apartment residential community of Bengaluru.”

Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chairperson of the Real Estate Research Initiative and faculty at IIMB, says, “This is RERI’s first major community-level engagement. Our first initiative will be to work with BAF on a training program for residents to become effective managers of their apartment associations.”
