Ban lifted on sale of land in 34 villages of Indore district

INDORE: Indore stamp and registrar department on Monday lifted the ban on sale and purchase of land in as many as 34 villages of the district that was imposed as part of acquiring lands to develop Western Ring Road.

According to senior registrar Deepak Kumar Sharma, the ban was imposed on sale and purchase of land in 34 villages of Hatod, Sanwer and Depalpur tehsil on November 24 last year as the district administration has instructed the concerned SDM to start land acquisition for construction of Western or Greater Indore Ring Road.

“Now, a notification has been published under section 3(A) of the National Highway Act 1956 to acquire the land situated in these 34 villages for the Western Ring Road and thus, the ban on sale/purchase of the remaining lands of these villages has been lifted,” he said.

According to NHAI Indore division project director Sumesh Banzal, the notification to acquire the lands to develop the six-lane Western Ring Road was published on January 13 while the claims and objections were invited in the next 21 days.

“With the notification, the process to acquire the lands has been initiated based on the collector’s guideline of the property on the day of publication,” he said.

He added that around 600 hectare in Indore district are needed for the Western Ring Road, of which, around 30 hectare are government land while the remaining private land will be acquired to develop the six-lane road that will pass through Indore and Dhar as it will start from NH-52 to connect near NATRAX in Pithampur.

“As many as three big bridges, 30 small bridges/culverts and three railway-over-bridges (ROB) are proposed on this road,” he said adding that the western ring road will around 60-metre-wide while at least 10-metre (as right of way) on either side will be kept reserved for further expansion or other development.
