MUMBAI: The Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) will get a global floor space index (FSI) of 4. The state urban development department on Monday issued a draft notification for the same inviting objections and suggestions, which are are to be submitted within a month.
According to a senior member of a high power committee set up to recommend premium on FSI, new developments and redevelopment of old buildings were considerations for proposing a global FSI of 4 for Blocks E and G of BKC.
Block E is where the International Finance Service Centre and the bullet train terminus have been proposed while Block G is a residential area.
These two areas are to be amalgamated to benefit from the global FSI, said the notification.
Architect Nitin Killawala said BKC was designed for an FSI of 1.5-2. “How will the MMRDA create open spaces for the enhanced FSI?” he asked.
MMRDA is yet to study the notification, said Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
