BENGALURU: With citizens raising concerns over delays in obtaining e-khatas, BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said the issues will be resolved in 10 days. Thousands of applications are being submitted daily, but persistent delays have left residents frustrated.
“About 90% applications have already been processed. Currently, we are issuing 2,000 e-khatas daily, but that’s insufficient. We aim to increase it to 10,000-15,000 applications per day by instructing our staff to work faster and deliver benefits to citizens,” Nath told TOI Wednesday. “We may not reach this goal immediately, but we are working to ensure every citizen who applied gets their e-khata soon,” he added.
Last weekend, 90,000 e-khata applications were pending, of which 90% are now cleared, reducing the backlog to 4,500. To expedite the process, BBMP has deployed over 800 additional staff exclusively for handling e-khata applications, and assistant revenue officers (AROs) have been appointed for each ward.
Despite these measures, many citizens remain dissatisfied. Shivaram Reddy, a property owner in KR Pura, said, “I applied for e-khata two months ago, and I am still waiting. Every time I visit the BBMP office, they tell me to come back in a week.”
Similarly, Deepa Rajan, a resident of HSR Layout, expressed her frustration: “I tried applying online but faced issues with the process. Even after calling the helpline, there has been no clarity on my application status.”
To address such concerns, BBMP launched a dedicated helpline (9480683695) and introduced a QR code to facilitate online submissions. Details about these resources are shared on Karnataka department of information and public relations’ official Facebook page.
