We have a new development in the Bennifer 2.0 gossip: Ben Affleck has reportedly bought a new Los Angeles dwelling, further fueling rumors that he and his wife of two years, Jennifer Lopez, are headed for divorce. Per TMZ, the Argo actor dropped $20.5 million on a Pacific Palisades home that changed hands last Wednesday.
The French-country-style abode, which was built in 1941, has been updated by architect Steve Gianetti. It was originally designed by Cliff May. Affleck is apparently a fan of the famed architect’s work; he and Jennifer Garner lived in a ranch-style estate designed by May from 2009 until their 2015 separation. The pair offloaded the property to Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo nearly four years later for $32 million.
Nestled amongst mature olive and cypress trees, the Oscar winner’s new five-bedroom, six bathroom manse spans roughly 6,200 square feet. Equestrian facilities, a poolside cabana with a fireplace, and a two-story guesthouse round out the storybook estate. The main residence, which is lined with ivy-covered stone, boasts numerous wood-burning fireplaces, vaulted ceilings with rustic beams, and plenty of French doors that open out onto the landscaped grounds.

Earlier this month, Affleck and Lopez listed their Beverly Hills estate for $68 million after buying it just last year for $60.9 million. As TMZ points out, the duo will likely break even or face a loss if that property sells at its current asking price, factoring in LA’s mansion tax, broker commissions, and renovation costs. All things considered, the timing of the move indicates that the pair just wants to get rid of the 38,000-square-foot abode—which they spent nearly two years house hunting for—as soon as possible. Signs seem to point to the end of this chapter for Bennifer, but it’s not over ‘til it’s over. And sometimes, as these two can attest, it’s still not over even after that.
