BHOPAL: Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) seized properties, due to unpaid taxes and fees, according to a press release here on Thursday. Targeted properties included a marriage garden, a hotel, and multiple shops. Some owners paid their debts during the operation. This action is part of the city’s ongoing revenue recovery efforts.
Eight properties were initially targeted for seizure. Three owners paid outstanding amounts during the operation. BMC commissioner Harendra Narayan ordered the recovery effort and directed strict action against those with outstanding balances.
Effective action is being taken by the BMC for the recovery of taxes/fees in other heads of revenue including property tax, water consumer charges, solid waste management charges, and strict action is also being taken against those who do not pay taxes, official said.
Properties of 8 defaulters including marriage garden, hotel were attached, while during the action of the corporation, 3 defaulters deposited the outstanding amount with the corporation.
Hills View Marriage Garden, near Kaliyasot Dam, owed Rs 14,06,555. Several shops in Jyoti Shopping Centre were also affected. Shop number 204, owned by Savita Jain, owed Rs 1,11,392. Shop number 301 owed Rs 4,85,466. Shop number 301-A, owned by Shahnaz Parveen, owed Rs 2,28,699. Office number 405, associated with Bina Nikarbar, owed Rs 3,27,653.
Properties belonging to Savita Jain with outstanding dues of Rs 1,11,392 were also seized in Zone 21.
