BHOPAL | JABALPUR: Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh appeared in the MP High Court through video conferencing on Wednesday after Justice Vivek Agarwal issued a bailable warrant against him in connection with a contempt petition for his personal appearance in the court during the hearing of the petition.
Referring to the non-execution of the RRC order of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) despite the direction of the high court, Singh told the court that Deputy Secretary, RERA, H P Verma informed him about a stay on the RERA order granted by the Supreme Court.
The court asked Verma to produce the stay order within 24 hours. Justice Agarwal warned of initiating contempt proceedings against Verma if the stay order is not produced within the time given by the court.
The petitioner in the case, Pratap Bhanu Singh, said that RERA issued an RRC order against a builder for the recovery of Rs 2,326,363 in 2020 with 10 percent interest accruing to it until the payment of the amount. After the RRC was not executed by the District Collector Bhopal, who was supposed to do it, he moved the court. The high court in July 2023 disposed of his petition with a direction to the Bhopal collector to execute the RRC within three months. When the order was not complied with within the given time frame, he moved the court again with a contempt petition.
In the previous hearing of the case, the court issued a bailable warrant against Collector Bhopal for personal appearance in the court during the hearing of the case on Wednesday. Advocates Kapil Duggal and Dhruv Verma appeared in the case for the petitioner.
