PATNA: The state govt is set to launch a new online portal for construction workers to streamline registration, renewal and access to benefits through Aadhaar-based and biometric authentication. Labour resources minister Santosh Kumar Singh announced the initiative on Thursday, highlighting the transparency and convenience it will bring.

“A new online portal is being developed by the department to make the registration, renewal and benefits of schemes for construction workers more transparent and accessible. Officials long requested a biometric authentication-based portal, which now received approval for onboarding from UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), and the process to go live has begun,” said Singh.

He added that discrepancies in the old portal had been rectified. “The govt will accept online applications for registration, renewal and schemes on the old portal until Feb 12, after which it will be closed,” the minister said.

“Regional officials have been given time till Feb 19 to process all applications received on the portal. The task of data migration from the old portal to the new one by Indian Bank will be conducted from Feb 20 to Feb 21. Once these processes are completed, the new portal will be made live immediately. Subsequently, all construction workers will be provided with a secure and accessible portal based on biometric authentication,” he added.
