MUMBAI: BMC will carry out a 3D mapping project for modern urban management of the city.
The project aims to create a digital twin of the city using advanced geo-spatial technology and artificial intelligence, covering 500 sq km of Mumbai, to enable better administration, planned infrastructure development, removal of unauthorised construction and help in disaster management.
Genesis International, along with Veritas (India) Ltd, will provide technical support and will also be responsible for updating the 3D map (digital twin) and related information for the next three years.
In 2021, BMC had carried out 3D mapping of Worli, covering all aspects of the 10 sq km area with a 360-degree digital panoramic view.
