GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Friday issued notices to 38 developers, asking them to conduct comprehensive surveys of their group housing societies and also address all maintenance problems within seven days.
The order comes after plaster chunks fell off balconies of two residential societies — Paras Dews in Sector 106 and Signature Global Solera in Sector 107 — on Thursday. The incident caused panic among residents, who sought immediate intervention from local authorities, including the district administration and the DTCP.
In the notice issued by district town planner (enforcement), Manish Yadav, DTCP has instructed the developers to address critical maintenance issues like water supply, sewage, stormwater management, and the prevention of waterlogging on roads due to rainwater. “The builders are required to submit an action taken report on any deficiencies or observations noted during the surveys within a week,” the notice read.
A DTCP official said that despite multiple complaints and safety concerns raised by the residents, builders have shown an indifferent attitude towards addressing these issues.
The developers, mostly from new sectors, which have been issued notices include CHD Developers, NBCC Limited, Paras Buildtech, Raheja Developers, Satya Developers, Vatika, Ansal Housing, Vatika Limited, Eros Group, ATS Infrastructure, SS Builder, BPTP Limited, Vipul Limited, Bestech, M3M Limited, Spaze Towers, Central Park, Tulip Infratech, Signature Global, Mapsko and others.
The urgency of the situation was underscored by plaster falling incidents on Thursday. SS Hooda, a resident of Paras Dews, emphasized the imminent danger, noting that the falling plaster could have caused injuries.
Similarly, residents in Solera reported that the plaster fell from at least four units on Thursday and another chunk fell from the eighth floor in tower A2 on Friday due to which one person sustained injury. As seen in a video posted on X, the user Vikas Dabas wrote he was climbing stairs and as he reached the eighth floor, a chunk of plaster fell on him and he sustained injury.
The steel is visible and it could have led to an accident, he said in the video.
When contacted, spokesperson for the developer said that the project was delivered and possession handed over in 2018. It was transferred to the RWA one and a half months ago. “A structural audit has been completed for Solera. We acknowledge the recent unfortunate incident, which involved a small plaster piece falling due to the rainy season. The necessary repair work will be completed within the next few days,” he said.
