SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW), during its 48th meeting of the board of directors, approved an annual budget of Rs 219.46 crore for the financial year 2025-26 to enhance the welfare initiatives for construction workers across the state.
The meeting was presided over by the board chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar. A substantial allocation of Rs 160 crore was earmarked for various social welfare schemes aimed at improving the well-being of BOCW beneficiaries. Besides, a provision of Rs 35 crore was made for the establishment of a day boarding school in Dehra in Kangra district, ensuring access to quality education for the children of construction workers.
The chairman emphasised skill training programmes to enhance the employability of beneficiaries and facilitate better livelihood opportunities. A decision was also taken to digitise all beneficiary records to streamline processes and improve service delivery.
