LUCKNOW: The Gram Chaupals are playing a key role in identifying eligible beneficiaries for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), a state govt spokesperson said on Saturday.
Conducted on the principle of ‘Problem of the Village – Solution in the Village,’ where personal and public grievances of villagers are addressed directly within their communities, the Gram Chaupals are organised every Friday in two Gram Panchayats of each development block.
Meanwhile, the selection of eligible beneficiaries for PMAY (R) in rural areas has been accelerated through these Chaupals, the spokesperson added.
To facilitate the process, an online survey is conducted using the Awas Plus App, streamlining the selection process while ensuring transparency and simplifying the housing construction procedure.
Previously, beneficiaries had to visit govt offices and apply offline for the scheme’s benefits. The state govt has now simplified the process, allowing applicants to apply through the PMAY Mobile App, with document verification conducted at the Tehsildar’s office.
