INDORE: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Monday carried out demolition drives against illegal constructions in Khajrana and Nipania.

“In Khajrana, a three-storey building constructed on a 5,000 square feet plot was demolished, while in Nipania, encroachments exceeding one lakh square feet at Tanya Resort were removed,” IMC additional commissioner Lata Agrawal said. She added that despite receiving notices from the corporation to stop construction and remove the illegal structure, the owners continued the work. This prompted the IMC to launch the removal drive.

“Acting on the instructions of municipal commissioner Shivam Verma, the IMC team demolished an under-construction three-storey building at 12 Haji Colony, near Bada Madrasa in Khajrana, Ward 38 under Zone 19. The building, owned by Zuber and others, was being constructed on a plot of approximately 5,000 square feet without obtaining the necessary permissions,” she said.

The senior official added that the building was being constructed for commercial purposes without any permissions. “The IMC team, equipped with three earthmoving machines, sealed off the area and demolished the basement and ground plus two floors of the illegal construction,” the additional commissioner said.

In a separate action, the IMC demolished illegal constructions at Tanya Resort in Nipania, Ward 36 under Zone 22. “The resort had illegal contructions of clubhouse, swimming pool, restaurant, turf, covered badminton court and other structures without the necessary approvals,” she said.
