KANPUR: A team of Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Tuesday convened a meeting with private tenants to inform them that KDA is going to purchase their land to develop New Kanpur City township.
The KDA officials requested the tenants to give a consent affidavit to sell their land to it for developing the New Kanpur City scheme.
The tehsildar (Sadar) informed the tenants that under the proposed New Kanpur City scheme as per the rules their land would be purchased by KDA four times of the current DM circle rate, and whatever amount is received in lieu of the said land would be given to them.
Payment would be made directly into the farmer’s account through RTGS, he said.
According to law officer and public relations officer of KDA SB Rai, most of the farmers of Sambhapur, Gangapur Chakbandi, Singhpur Kachar and Hindupur villages present in the meeting agreed to give their land to KDA for developing New Kanpur City.
For obtaining the consent affidavit from the farmers, the KDA has opened an office at KDA Greens, Mainawati Marg, where the consent affidavit given by the private farmers will be collected at 2.30 pm on December 15. KDA had directed its area amin and lekhpal to collect the affidavits at the camp office.
Rai said that instructions have been given to the regional accountant to determine the tenant’s share of land and the price to be paid in exchange of it and provide detailed information to the KDA.
It may be mentioned that KDA has proposed the flagship scheme ‘New Kanpur City’ in an area of more than 150 hectares between Mainawati Marg and Kalyanpur-Bithoor Road.
Recently, necessary instructions have been issued by the state government to release a total amount of Rs 200 crore in favour of the authority for the implementation and proper development of new cities under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion/New Cities Promotion Scheme, Rai said.
