Mangaluru civic body launch e-khata drive for unauthorised properties, ET RealEstate

MANGALURU: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) launched a drive to issue e-khatas for unauthorised properties in the city. Within MCC limits, the facility to issue e-khata using e-property software was implemented in 2022. As many as 39,000 e-khatas were already created and distributed to property owners.

So far, e-khatas were issued only for officially recognised properties in the e-property software, and not for plots not approved by the planning authority. To address the issues faced by the public in this regard, amendments were made to Karnataka municipalities act and rules to allow e-khata issuance for unauthorised plots. Accordingly, e-khatas will be provided for unauthorised properties registered before Sept 10, 2024. This will facilitate transactions for the public by providing them with e-khata for their properties, stated a release.

The issuance of e-khata is being undertaken as a campaign with the intention to issue e-khatas for all properties within the next three months. The public can take advantage of this opportunity. Property details should be verified and confirmed in the e-aasthi software and the property repository software.

MCC commissioner Ravichandra Naik announced that the help desk can be contacted at the central zone office on 0824-2220302/ 9141996736 for more information.
