PANCHKULA: The municipal corporation proposes to regularise illegal colonies by offering 1-marla residential plots to eligible families.
To qualify, families must have lived in the area for 20 years or more. Plots will be allocated at 2004 collector rates, allowing families to retain their existing residences. The MC’s proposal is to allocate 1-marla plots in Rajiv Colony, Indira Colony, Kharak Mangoli, Gandhi Colony, among other colonies.
Surveys for relocating these colonies have been conducted multiple times by different governments, but the residents have till now preferred not to move away from the city area.
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said Manav Colony, located near Saketri village, has been acquired by Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran. He said the colony should be freed from acquisition and provided with all basic facilities.
Thousands of people have built houses on forest department land in Beed-Ghaggar village, with many of these homes being over 20 years old. The mayor said according to the new government policy, 1-marla plots should be allocated to these residents based on the 2004 collector rate. Also, if the forest department demands land, some land in Chandimandir should be provided to them in exchange, allowing the residents’ houses to remain. All basic facilities, including electricity, water, sewer, and roads, should be provided to them.
‘Hand over 4 residential colonies to MC’
A proposal has been prepared to address the maintenance of four ashianas (residential colonies) located in Sector 20, Sector 26, Sector 28, and Abhaypur in Panchkula city.
These colonies fall under the jurisdiction of HSVP, which has not been carrying out necessary maintenance tasks such as external painting, road work, park maintenance, and boundary pole repairs. It has been proposed that these houses be transferred to the MC to ensure that all these maintenance works are carried out, preventing any inconvenience to the residents.
