PRAYAGRAJ: Prayagraj residents interested in acquiring property in areas enhanced during the recent Maha Kumbh have an opportunity ahead as the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) is preparing to offer residential options in these upgraded locations across the city.
Under the leadership of PDA vice chairman Amit Pal Sharma, the authority has set up a special team to identify land beside or in the vicinity of the roads that were beautified for the Maha Kumbh. Additionally, the PDA has embarked on a mission to consolidate its ‘land bank’.
To provide accessible facilities to visitors from both India and abroad during the recently concluded Maha Kumbh, the PDA had undertaken various public welfare projects, which included widening and strengthening of 42 roads. Moreover, many localities are now well-lit. To enhance aesthetics and provide adequate street lighting, the PDA installed approximately 2,500 streetlights on these newly constructed roads.
Furthermore, the landscaping and beautification of 13 major intersections in the city were done to create a pleasing environment for devotees.
“With a number of developmental works, several localities in the city have now become more beautiful and equipped with all amenities. They are the most ‘sought-after’ areas for people to own a house. To fulfil their wish, we are identifying land that either belongs to us or can be procured for housing schemes and plots,” said VC Amit Pal Sharma.
Among the areas where housing schemes could be launched by the PDA include the inner-ring road, the areas that will become accessible after the six-lane bridge over the Ganga, or the locality near Prayagraj Airport at Jhalwa etc. Sources said the PDA could develop residential schemes around Airport Road towards Jhalwa in the coming months. More than 300 flats and over 400 plots could be carved out for a residential scheme. For this, the PDA is planning to buy around 150 to 200 hectares land in the first phase. “We have started identifying all the land that belongs to us and freeing the same from any encroachment or any legal issue associated with it. After proper verification, it will be included in our land bank and will be used for residential and commercial purposes in the future,” said the VC.
