CHANDIGARH: The Congress’ Chandigarh unit on Monday staged a protest against the eviction notices served to 63 houses in the colony of Sector 29-B.
The residents of the colony joined the protest. Unit president H S Lucky emphasised the historic role of the Congress Party in upliftment of the weaker sections of the society through comprehensive housing schemes.
“I appeal the Chandigarh administration to reconsider the encroachment notice,” he said, assuring the residents that the party would stand firmly with them. Congress general secretary Zahid Pervez Khan said, “The notices should be immediately withdrawn.”
