KALYAN: A meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Revenue minister Chandrakant Bawankule regarding 65 illegal buildings constructed with the help of RERA certificates in Dombivli, which the Mumbai High Court asked to demolish.

At the meeting, Bawankule asked all four concerned departments, including KDMC, RERA, the Urban Development Department, and the Thane Collector, to prepare a report and present it in the next four days in a meeting under chairmanship of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis with the aim of saving the residents of these buildings.

Earlier, the chief minister also said that the state might think of relaxing rules to save genuine home buyers and, if required, the state would move to the Supreme Court.

This meeting was organised at the request of BJP’s State Working President and Dombivli Assembly MLA Ravindra Chavan at Mantralay on Wednesday. Apart from Bawankule, KDMC Commissioner Dr Indurani Jakhar was present through video conferencing.

In the meeting, Chavan stated that the govt would not let the residents of these 65 buildings become homeless, who bought these with their hard-earned money and by taking loans from banks, and this is a special case. For this, the govt would try to save the residents of these buildings, similar to the approach taken in Ulhasnagar.

Revenue Minister Chandrakant Bawankule clarified in this regard that a meeting of the officers of all the four departments will be organised in the next four days under the chairmanship of the chief minister.

In this meeting, the officers of the department should submit a detailed report with a view to finding a positive solution to the issue of 65 buildings, and a proposal should be prepared accordingly. Revenue Minister Bawankule also assured that this issue will be raised in the cabinet meeting.

It may be recalled that before this, after the High Court ordered KDMC to demolish these illegal buildings, the KDMC planned to demolish these buildings.
