JAIPUR: Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) has dispatched a letter to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) commissioner Anandhi requesting a revision of the civic body’s scheme to construct a 100 feet thoroughfare connecting sectors 63 and 64 of Pratap Nagar with the Tonk Road.

Recently, inhabitants of approximately 60 houses staged a demonstration after JDA designated their structures for demolition to accommodate a 100-feet wide proposed roadway. The RHB was the original proprietor of these properties.

“The housing commissioner has dispatched a letter to JDA requesting the civic body to review the decision. We are optimistic that the civic body would consider the sensitivity of the matter,” said a RHB spokesperson.

The residents, who procured these properties from the RHB, maintained that according to the Master Plan they possessed in 2018, there were no provisions for the construction of the proposed thoroughfare.

“The JDA has altered the master plan. There was a provision for a proposed roadway adjacent to our neighbourhood. However, JDA now intends to construct the road demolishing our buildings that were purchased from another state govt agency,” claimed Kishan Lal Bairwa, a local resident.

In late Feb, JDA had marked the buildings red to indicate that these buildings are to be demolished.
