LUDHIANA: Three illegal colonies on the outskirts of the city in Ladian Kalan and Hussainpura village were demolished Monday.
The exercise is part of the Greater Ludhiana Development Authority‘s (Glada)’s ongoing crackdown on unauthorised and unplanned development.
Harpreet Singh, chief administrator of Glada, has also asked officials to take punitive action against those exploiting innocent residents with the promise of cheaper plots in these unauthorised colonies, which lack statutory sanction and do not compliance with govt norms.
Monday’s demolition was carried out by a team led by district town planner Sandeep. It pulled down boundary walls, demolished roads and passages and dismantled sewer manholes under construction at these sites. Glada has appealed to the general public to not invest or buy plots in such shady colonies.
