LUCKNOW: To ensure transparency in the selection of beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojna, the state govt will carry out an online survey in rural areas until Jan 10.
The survey will be facilitated through the recently launched Awas Plus App, designed to ensure transparency in the selection of beneficiaries while simplifying the process of providing housing under the scheme.
Secretaries of all Gram Panchayats will be provided with unique login credentials with face authentication to verify both the identity of the surveyor and the beneficiary. Beneficiaries will also have the option to self-register using the app.
The process for application and its criteria have also been simplified. Earlier, one could become a beneficiary only if they earned less than Rs 10,000 per month or did not own a bike, mobile phone, or refrigerator. Now, the criteria have been revised, extending the eligibility to families earning up to Rs 15,000 per month.
As per the previous system, beneficiaries were required to apply both offline by visiting govt offices and online. Now, to simplify the application process, applicants will be allowed to register themselves directly by downloading the PMAY Mobile App on their phones. After completing the online registration, they will need to submit their documents at the Tehsildar office for verification.
To ensure transparency, district-level meetings will be held under the chairmanship of the district magistrate.
The chief development officer will ensure the dissemination of all scheme-related information through the media, especially the revised eligibility and ineligibility.
A PM Awas Yojana-Rural Beneficiary Selection Register 2024 will also be maintained to document all eligible beneficiaries systematically.
