Two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett is letting go of her longtime Melbourne, Australia, residence, according to Mansion Global. Blanchett and her husband, playwright Andrew Upton, both hail from Australia. They bought the contemporary abode back in 2006. On March 9, the three-bed, two-bathroom dwelling will go up for auction with an indicative price of approximately $1.5 million (or about $2.3 million in AUD).
Set on a lushly landscaped lot in Prahran, a suburb of Blanchett’s native Melbourne, the property boasts direct access to a historic park called Victoria Gardens. The house also has a private garden of its own, which was likely a beloved feature for the Tár star: “We have a vegetable garden,” Blanchett told AD in 2016 (though it’s unclear which home in her portfolio she was referring to). “And we have the most unbelievable crop of cherry tomatoes. My mother has a green thumb, so, hopefully, as I progress into my later years, I’ll have that too.”
The modern residence features an open plan with polished concrete floors and all-white walls. The living, dining, and kitchen areas all share a large sunlit space, with access to a spacious backyard deck. On the opposite end of the ground floor, a small set of hardwood steps lead to the primary bedroom, which is outfitted with dark hardwood floors, built-in white wardrobes, a serene tiled ensuite bathroom, and access to a private veranda. Two more bedrooms are found on the upper floor, as well as a loft with a library wall and a cozy nook for TV watching.

It appears that the Carol actor still maintains the $4.5 million East Sussex, UK, mansion that she purchased in 2016 as her primary residence. Spanning 9,000 square feet, the 1890-built manor was once owned by Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
