HYDERABAD: The Central Crime Station (CCS) has taken over investigation of double-bedroom (2-BHK) housing allotment fraud case. Earlier, a case was registered at the Borabanda police station and it revolves around Gondri Narasimha Raju, who claimed close ties with Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath to convince a victim to pay for a promised 2-BHK flat.

According to the complaint filed in Feb 2022 by Bareddy Ravinder Reddy, a resident of Rahmath Nagar, Raju introduced himself in 2021 as an associate of the MLA.

Leveraging this connection, Raju persuaded Reddy to transfer ₹7 lakh via PhonePe, allegedly to secure a 2-BHK at Karmika Nagar. Reddy claimed that Raju invoked the MLA’s name repeatedly, which gained his trust.

Over several transactions between Aug and Dec 2021, Reddy transferred the funds. Raju later provided a notary document with the name changed to Reddy’s, falsely suggesting the double-bedroom allotment was in his name.

However, months passed without any official documentation. When Reddy attempted to contact Raju, his calls went unanswered or were met with threats.

The investigation, initially handled by the Borabanda police, revealed additional accused, Shaik Hyder and Ketavath Dasharath. With the value of the alleged fraud crossing over ₹1.5 crore, authorities transferred the case to the CCS for further scrutiny.

Upon receiving the case file, the CCS re-registered the case under Sections 420 (Cheating) read with 34 IPC, and assigned it to sub-inspector G Srikanth of the economic offences wing (EOW) for an in-depth investigation.
