Model Tested: Lovesac Pillowsac Accent Chair
The details: Lovesac started in 1995 with its signature elevated bean bag chair, called Sac. In 2006 they introduced their Sactionals, a type of endlessly customizable sectional couch. I previously tested the Lovesac Sactional for Clever (and wrote a follow-up article a year later about how it was holding up, TLDR: very well!), so I’m very familiar with the brand.

Price: How much does it cost? Are there payment plans available?

Prices start at $613 for just a single-seater Pillowsac and can range depending on the size of the seat you choose as well as the fabric cover material. With the frame, the accent chair starts around $1,100. Affirm payment plans are available.

What are the upholstery or customization options? Did you choose any?

Like most Lovesac products, the Accent Chair is endlessly customizable. While the chair frame itself is always blonde wood, the straps are offered in tan, black, or leather and the hardware comes in gold, black, or silver. For the cushion cover, there are more than 150 color options. I personally went with the Ocean Teal Chenille.

What is the lead time for customization, manufacturing, and delivery?

For chairs with a “ready-to-ship” cover, delivery is as soon as a few days. For custom colors, it can take one to two weeks.

What are the dimensions? How does it fit in your space? Would it be better suited for a different type of home?

The Accent Chair is 38″ tall x 48″ wide x 54″ deep. It’s substantial—my fiance and I can sit on it together (for context, we’re 6’6” and 5’7”, respectively). Considering we already have a sizable sectional, it’s honestly a little too big for our living room and makes the space feel crowded. However, when I moved it to a sparsely decorated office, it added an element of coziness—it was lovely to have something more comfortable than an office chair to lounge and respond to emails in. It would be great for small spaces, like a studio apartment, where you want a little something but don’t have quite enough room for a loveseat or couch.

Sit Test: Is it comfortable? Does it feel well made? Does the chair have a tendency to sag?

When the cushion is positioned how it’s supposed to be and the fill is equally dispersed, it’s supremely comfortable. However, as you move around, the fill does shift and you’ll eventually have to fluff it up again, a process that involves punching the cushion or flipping the cushion a couple of times to introduce more air. We also had a hard time keeping the cushion from sliding down. It’s also possible to pull the cushion off the frame and sit on it like a beanbag.

Is the chair suitable for particular decor styles and if so, which?

With the blonde wood, it could look nice in a Scandinavian style home. Though given how customizable it is, you could curate it to fit a number of other styles.
