CHANDIGARH: Collector rates are set to increase in most property categories, particularly agricultural and residential segments. A UT official said the rates are likely to be revised by 8 to 10%.

A meeting of the committee constituted for the revision of collector rates of UT was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chandigarh deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav. The committee deliberated on the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, which are crucial for determining the current market value of properties in Chandigarh.

A draft of the revised collector rates is to be prepared in accordance with these provisions. The draft will be published and made available to the public by March 5, 2025, inviting representations from the general public. The public will have an opportunity to submit their representations until March 20, 2025, at the deputy commissioner’s office. The committee will review and address all the representations before finalising and publishing the updated collector rates by March 25.

These revised rates will come into effect starting April 1. It is important to note that the current collector rates, which were last revised in 2021, remain in force in UT Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by key officials including the additional deputy commissioner, SDMs Chandigarh, AEOs Chandigarh, tehsildars, district town planner, district treasury officer, and representatives from the home department, UT Chandigarh.
