Chris Hemsworth’s Homes: Inside the Marvel Star’s Real Estate Portfolio

Architectural Digest logo

Chris Hemsworth’s homes—at least the ones we know about—seem to have a few key things in common. Each of the Spiderhead star’s dwellings must come equipped with clean architectural lines, sweeping verdant views, and nearby beach access. Judging by this, Hemsworth’s offscreen life seems much more serene than that of his most well-known movie character, the thunderous superhero Thor, whose typical day consists of saving the world from mass destruction.

The Australian actor, husband, and father of three has owned homes in Malibu, California, and Byron Bay, Australia. Read on as we share a glimpse into the well-curated real estate portfolio of the multimillion dollar homes owned by Hemsworth through the years.

Hemsworth’s first Malibu home was a 1992 Victorian-style mansion located in Malibu’s Point Dume community. Thanks to a 2012 renovation by actor Paul Hogan, a.k.a. Crocodile Dundee, the estate boasted a blend of old-world details with a modern European aesthetic. Hemsworth; his wife, Elsa Pataky; and their (then) baby daughter, India Rose, moved in the following year. The home was privately tucked away behind a manicured hedge, creating a secluded retreat for the family. The 6,800-square-foot home featured a large living room with a fireplace and curved windows, a light-filled dining room, and an open gourmet kitchen with vaulted ceilings. The star of the show was the second-floor veranda offering sweeping views of the property’s verdant, manicured acreage. The actor sold the home in 2016 for $7 million.
