San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is parting ways with his final piece of North Carolina real estate. The former Carolina Panther has listed his Lake Norman mansion for $12.5 million. He bought the estate, known as “The Grand Lac Chateau,” in 2020 for $7.5 million, setting the record as the highest resale ever recorded in the Greater Charlotte Metro through Canopy MLS. The Panthers traded him to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for four draft picks in 2022.
“It was such a difficult decision to have to sell this house, but because I’m in the Bay now, I am never there,” he said in an email to the Wall Street Journal. “It pains me letting them go, but that’s life I guess.” McCaffrey also listed his Charlotte condo last year for $3 million.
Built by JJ Barja, the manse is situated on an expansive plot in excess of eight acres. Visitors are greeted with a tree-lined driveway leading up to the entrance. The dwelling’s interior covers about 11,800 square feet and features oak hardwood floors throughout. Upon entrance, an airy grand foyer opens to a 60-foot turret ceiling. The six-bedroom home boasts a primary suite with a two-story closet and a screened-in terrace.
On the main level, there’s a double-sided fireplace that rests in the vaulted great room, as well as a wood-paneled study, a formal dining room, a scullery, a butler’s pantry, and a kitchen filled with top-of-the-line appliances.
