NAVI MUMBAI: City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has freed over 2 lakh sqmt area from encroachment last year, from Jan 2024 to Dec 2024, during special demolition drives.
Under the leadership of Cidco managing director and Vice Chairman Vijay Singhal, the Controller of Unauthorized Constructions department for Navi Mumbai NAINA, led by Suresh Mengade, chief vigilance officer, undertook demolition of illegal constructions.
While 2,102 illegal structures were cleared, 2.06 lakh sqmt metre of land was recovered. “Cidco consistently acts against encroachments and unauthorised structures in the planned city of Navi Mumbai, as these activities impede and affect the city’s development,” said Mengade.
It conducted 547 demolition operations and removed 2,102 illegal structures.
The cleared structures included temporary buildings, RCC constructions, and commercial stalls.
The authority issued 2,160 notices to occupants of illegal structures.
