THANE: Chief minister Eknath Shinde while laying the foundation stone for cluster development at Wagle estate, on Saturday, said that he has been following up the project for 15-20 years since he was first elected as MLA and after seeing people dying in building collapse.
This phase of cluster development is proposed at the MIDC plot F-2 which is being undertaken by the Thane Municipal corporation as well as Cidco.
“This cluster is close to my heart and I have fought for it for 15-20 years since I was first elected as MLA. I had helped those injured in the Sairaj building collapse that had killed 18 people. I had vowed to do something constructive for the citizens and for those who died in the building collapse later on,” CM Shinde said.
“I remember, every monsoon, we used to pray that no building should fall and there should be no casualty. Since then I started planning the cluster development and took out morchas. There were some who doubted if the cluster would be done or not , but it has now turned into a reality and all the technical glitches in the cluster development have been sorted. Those who doubted the cluster development should come and see for themselves that the first phase of the cluster has already started,” Shinde said.
Shinde added that there were allegations that the cluster was being done to benefit the private builders but the TMC and Cidco had undertaken the cluster development.
“There are some of the issues of the workers and we shall sort it out,” the chief minister further informed.
CM Shinde in his speech also mentioned Ayodhya’s Ram temple and said, “Some of them doubted that the Ram Temple would be constructed or not, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has even finalised the date January 22, 2024.”
He added that his political master late Anand Dighe had sent a silver brick for the construction of a Ram temple during the early days of the movement and that was close to his heart.
