CHANDIGARH: Municipal commissioner Amit Kumar Monday held a meeting with deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and other officers concerned to clarify queries regarding the collector’s rate for the chunk of land in Manimajra, where the civic body has planned its housing project.

Sources said both the senior officers had a detailed discussion on the matter, and the DC’s office will soon send its reply over the collector’s rate through an official letter to MC, so that it can proceed with its housing project.

The sources said since various departments are involved in this exercise, it will take the DC’s office a few days to specify the collector’s rate of the area, thereby enabling MC to go ahead with land auction for the project.

It must be recalled that MHA has issued a specific direction in case of land disposal in Chandigarh. It says that the collector’s rate of the land will be its reserve price. So, it’s incumbent on MC to auction the land based on the collector’s rate, keeping it as the reserve price of the land.
