HYDERABAD: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday announced that 3,500 to 4,000 Indiramma housing units will be sanctioned in the first phase in each of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state by Oct-end.

“The target is to provide Indiramma houses to all eligible poor families over the next four years by sanctioning at least 20 lakh units without any discrimination of caste, creed, region, or political party affiliation,” he said at a programme, where double-bedroom house possession documents were handed over to beneficiaries from the Goshamahal constituency.

The Congress govt’s objective is to provide Indiramma housing units for all eligible families, and a sincere effort is being made towards achieving this endeavour. “The Union housing joint secretary recently visited Hyderabad, and we requested him to allocate the state’s share of central funds for housing on a large scale under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,” he said.

The BRS govt did not fulfil its promise of providing 2-BHK units to the homeless poor. Though the Congress govt is faced with financial difficulties due to 7 lakh crore debt and over 40,000 crore unpaid bills to contractors and agencies left by the previous BRS govt, the incumbent govt led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy and deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, who holds the finance portfolio too, is continuing to fulfil all the promises made by the party in its election manifesto, one by one,” Transport and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who also participated in the programme, said.
