Continuing crackdown against encroachments, ET RealEstate

INDORE: Continuing its crackdown against illegal structures, more than 140 encroachments were removed by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) from Sindhi colony and nearby areas on Saturday.

IMC’s anti-encroachment team targeted encroachments in Sindhi colony and nearby areas as around 140 illegal structures including 60 sheds and remaining pucca counters were removed during the day-long drive.

Assistant anti-encroachment officer of IMC Bablu Kalyane, along with a significant number of officials and staff from the anti-encroachment department, were present during the enforcement action.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the municipal authorities to reclaim public spaces and maintain order in city by addressing unauthorized constructions and encroachments, said sources.

The team had to face resentment, but the drive continued till removing the illegal construction and sheds. The team also seized many handcarts and kiosks from the roads and warned the shopkeepers not to encroach upon the roads, else stricter actions will be taken against them.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said that the drive, which has in the last more than a month recorded removing encroachments from major and busy markets including Rajawada, Bambai Bazaar, Ranipura and Jhanda Chowk to ease traffic, will continue across the city without any partiality and pressure.
