NAGPUR: Pachpaoli police have registered a case of fraud against a couple for allegedly duping three persons of Rs3.70 crore in separate land deals between October 2022 and November this year. The accused have been identified as Anand Khobragade and his wife Sarda, both residents of Nawanakasha in Pachpaoli.
The case is likely to be transferred to the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of city police as cops suspect that the fraud amount and number of victims could increase.
According to police, Anand and Sarda are directors in a real estate company and own an office in Nawanakasha. The complainant, Asim Nawed Issararulha, a resident of Gittikhadan, came in contact with the accused in 2022.
The accused entered into an agreement with Asim for selling a plot in Kamptee tehsil for Rs1 crore and accepted Rs1.20 crore from Asim. However, the couple allegedly neither executed the sale deed nor gave the plot’s possession to Asim, instead they used the money for themselves, said police.
After some days, when Asim sent labourers for marking the plot, the accused allegedly abused them and turned them back. When Asim raised questions, the couple abused him too and demanded Rs1 crore more for the plot, said police.
Police said the accused had accepted Rs1.30 crore from a company for selling another plot and Rs1.20 crore from one Virendra Singh Shekhawat for another plot. However, they allegedly did not execute sale deed for any of the plots.
Asim and other victims approached Pachpaoli police station where a case of fraud was registered against the Anand and Sarda.
