NOIDA | GHAZIABAD: The number of lifts registered in Noida under the UP Lift Act shot up to 788 by Tuesday from only 88 in Feb. Earlier this month, the administration had organised camps in collaboration with RWAs and AOAs across Noida to facilitate spot resolutions and complete lift registration on the online portal.

“As of March 18, there are 788 lifts registered in the district, which includes those at residential, commercial, and industrial establishments. The fees collected from these lifts amount to Rs 33.10 lakh. More residential societies have started complying after we held workshops with representatives of the societies and established contact with them so they could reach out if they faced any issues in lift registrations on the online portal,” Ramesh Chaudhary, Assistant Director of the Electrical Safety Department of GB Nagar, told TOI.

So far, two such workshops have been held in the city. The first one was held on Feb 18 in Sector 62, where over 70 RWA representatives from nearby localities attended, while the second one was on Feb 23 in Sector 77, where representatives of over 25 AOAs from Sector 50 and 7x sectors participated.

Rajiva Singh, president of the Federation of Noida Apartment Owners’ Association (FONRWA), said that residents are now in touch with officials from the administration, which has helped smoothen the registration process.

“The workshops have really helped the residents in complying with the UP Lift Act. Earlier, we did not have any official to speak to regarding issues faced,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Ghaziabad, only 20 lifts are registered so far. “We have sent notices to 150 societies across the district to get their lifts registered under the UP Lift Act, but only 20 lifts are registered in the district so far. These include Country Inn Hotel in Sahibabad and Landkraft Golflinks Society,” said Saurabh Singh, assistant director of the Electrical Safety Department, Ghaziabad.

He went on to say that the department has deputed a person from their team to guide residents and operators of hotels and industries in the district on how to carry out the lift registrations on the portal.
