NAGPUR: Considering the upcoming elections this year, all proposals of the District Planning Committee (DPC) should be implemented before the model code of conduct comes into force, directed Devendra Fadnavis, deputy chief minister and district guardian minister.
The DPC approved ₹668.72 crore for the year 2024-25 in a meeting held on Monday. An additional fund of ₹1,431 crore too was demanded. The total demand of the district is pegged at ₹2,100 crore.
The draft plan for 2024-25, including general, scheduled caste sub-plan and tribal component programme was approved on Monday. After approving the additional demand, this draft plan will be presented in the state level meeting. After that it will be given final approval.
Fadnavis said that the financial limit will be increased by changing the criteria for gymnasiums in rural areas. MLA Nitin Raut raised the issue of purchase of inferior materials in sports works.
The earlier provision of ₹25 crore for construction of a mall for self-help groups at Badkas Chowk, was scaled down to ₹12 crore. MLC Pravin Datke said that the project has been stalled for over a decade.
Earlier, Fadnavis handed over 5 fire tenders and 11 SUVs to municipal councils in Mauda, Parseoni, Hingna, Wanadongri and Kanhan-Pimpri and rural police, which were procured using DPC funds.
