MARGAO: A special one-day drive to process applications to regularise unauthorised constructions was conducted across South Goa today, yielding poor results despite a significant pending caseload.
The drive, held at all deputy collectors’ offices throughout the district from 10am to 5pm, was attended by applicants and representatives from various govt departments.
According to official figures, 1,246 applications were pending as of Feb 28. During Saturday’s drive, 183 applicants or their representatives attended the proceedings. Officials managed to dispose of 96 applications, with 34 receiving approval. Regularisation orders were issued for 26 properties.
Despite the latest exercise, the backlog stands at 1,150 applications.
