GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) board is set to hold a meeting in Meerut on Tuesday to discuss a total of 16 proposals.

The meeting, to be chaired by divisional commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, will take up the proposed assimilation of villages under Hapur Pilakhua and the handover of developed plots to farmers from whom land was acquired for the Madhuban Bapudham housing scheme.

“There is a proposal to widen the development scope of GDA, for which it will have to assimilate 16 revenue villages falling under Hapur Pilakhua Development Authority. If this proposal gets the board’s clearance, GDA’s impact area will increase and will help regulate development in the area, which is seeing unregulated growth over the past few years because of the opening of NH9,” a GDA official said.

Board approval will also be sought for the relocation of 373 plots in Pocket-E in the Madhuban Bapudham housing scheme, which was sold off to buyers as park-facing but ended up being opposite a crematorium.

Buyers have been agitating since the sale, raising demands that their plots be relocated.

In keeping with a Supreme Court order on the same, the board will also get formal approval under which 6% of developed land in 800 acres of land – acquired from farmers at mutually agreed rates – and 20% of developed 281 acres of land – which was acquired as per the Land Acquisition (Rehabilitation & Resettlement) Act – will be given to the farmers at lower rates, the official said.
