PRAYAGRAJ: As the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a state-of-the-art facility for depositing house tax, water, and sewer tax to encourage cashless transactions, provision of depositing house tax via QR code is being offered to the taxpayers of the Sangam city.
With the new system, residents will not only have the convenience of depositing house tax from their residences, but will also get an additional 2.5% rebate in house tax.
Currently, a discount of 10% is provided to the depositors. Thus, now the building owners will receive a discount of 12.5%. “To encourage cashless transactions, the provision of depositing house tax through QR code is being offered. Those who deposit tax through this method will receive an additional discount in interest.
The objective of providing an additional discount is to encourage more building owners to regularly deposit house tax, water, and sewer tax,” said Chief Tax Assessment Officer, PMC, PK Dwivedi. The QR code facility has been introduced to ensure that the residents of urban areas do not face difficulties in depositing house tax, water, and sewer tax.
Approximately 1.20 lakh building owners of the previous 80 wards who consistently pay house tax, water, and sewer tax will benefit from this initiative. It will be executed after proposal to provide an additional discount is approved in Sadan (house) meeting of Municipal Corporation. House tax is collected from building properties in 80 out of 100 wards under the city limit, and 2.32 lakh building properties are identified in these wards.
New rates of house tax have been established in 20 new wards of expanded areas. According to the survey conducted in this region, more than 1.72 lakh building properties have been recognised. Out of this, a scheme has been devised to collect house tax from approximately 54,000 building properties.
“Efforts will be made to offer an additional discount of two to two and a half percent to building owners who consistently deposit tax. It will be approved through the House,” said Mayor, Ganesh Kesarwani.
