SAMBHAJINAGAR: Residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar can avail up to 10% concession in the general tax component of property tax from the next financial year if they secure ratings under the seven-star policy of the civic body.

The seven-star rating policy refers to the use of e-vehicles, segregation of garbage at source, plantation of trees, registering property against the name of female members of the family, use of solar power, implementation of rainwater harvesting and online payment of taxes.

Taxpayers scoring on all seven points will get a maximum of 10% discount in general tax, while those securing six and five ratings will get a discount of 8% and 6%, respectively, officials of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) said.

Municipal commissioner and CSMC administrator G Sreekanth said online payment of water tax and property tax is a must to claim the benefit of the seven-star policy. “The new rating policy aims to promote IT services, the use of clean and renewable energy and women empowerment. It also offers a push for environmental conservation and public hygiene. All taxpayers are requested to take benefit of the new policy,” he said.

With regards to plantation, citizens can plant trees on balconies, terraces or spaces available around the properties. The segregation of wet and dry waste has to be 100% while handing over garbage during door-to-door collection. The use of EV four-wheelers and two-wheelers will be considered during the rating policy, however, the use of e-bicycles does not fall under the policy.
