AHMEDABAD : Ahmedabad developers are facing challenges obtaining online fire NOCs for projects due to technical issues in the state govt’s new system.

According to regulations, building plans can only be approved once fire permissions are obtained. Developers have raised concerns with the state govt about the numerous annexures in the new online portal and the trouble they are facing in uploading the documents, which in turn causes is causing delay in the process.

The Gujarat fire safety compliance portal was launched in Dec, making the state the first to issue and renew fire safety licences online. The portal is an initiative led by the urban development and urban housing department in collaboration with the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management, Directorate of Fire Prevention Services and Gujarat State Institute for Fire Safety Training. Dhruv Patel, Ahmedabad president of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai), acknowledged the benefits of the portal but stressed the need to address the glitches promptly to ensure smooth processing of fire NOCs for developers.
